There’s Volkswagen’s motorized office chair, and then this amethyst one by Factory-M, which looks uncomfortable to sit on to say the least. Priced at $3,385 USD, this bizarre creation all started when founder Koichi Hasegawa traveled to the United States on vacation and saw a gigantic amethyst crystal in a shop that was shaped like a chair of sorts.

Before sitting on this chair, the founder recommends grinding the sharp bits down, but transporting it might be another issue, as the crystal weighs 194-pounds alone. Amethyst is basically a violet-colored variety of quartz and a semiprecious stone typically used in jewelry. High-quality amethyst can be found mainly in Uruguay, Siberia, Sri Lanka, Brazil and the Far East, with the ideal grade being classified as ‘Deep Siberian, which has a purple hue of around 75% – 80%.
